Photographic Explanations

Exhibit A
The Chugwater Formation is named for the town of Chugwater, Wyoming. It dates from the Triassic and is recognizable by its brick-red color. Its average stratigraphic dip is about twelve to fourteen degrees, well illustrated in this photograph taken by Gil in eastern Wyoming.

How is this formation important to us?

This mostly has to do with a journey by Gil across the country.

He was aware of the formation from years of working in Wyoming as a petroleum geologist. What was most important to Gil when he took this picture was its beauty.

Naming the company became a whole lot easier once he came home.
